Why Safe Summer?

Portsmouth United Safe Summer 2026 is a full-season initiative running April through August. Our goal is simple: keep Portsmouth's young people engaged, employed, certified, and supported through the summer — and give the adults in their lives real pathways to federal-level employment along the way.

This is not a single event. It's five connected program areas running in parallel for five months, anchored by Youth Violence Prevention Week and the Summer Kickoff Event.

The Five Tracks

• 🧑🏾‍💼 Youth Work Programs — Paid summer jobs for ages 14–24.
• 👷🏾 Adult Workforce — Cybersecurity, Health & Safety, API Blind, and Skill Trade Center programs.
• 🎉 Signature Events — Summer Kickoff, Monica's Kickball, YVPW gatherings.
• 🏕 Summer Camps — Week-long camps for ages 6–17.
• 🌙 Late Night Activities — Structured sports and programs running to 11 PM.
